Ms. Rhonda R. Patterson

Rhonda Renee (Rhoo) Patterson was born on December 29, 1967 in Alton Illinois to her parents Albert Patterson Sr. and Mary Pat- terson. She graduated from Alton Senior High in 1986 and played Varsity Basketball for 4 years. After graduating from high school Rhonda played basketball for Lewis Clark Community College (Associate Degree in Mass Communication) and University St Louis Missouri (Bachelor Degree in Mass Communication and Graphic Design). Rhonda worked at Alton Belle, Office Depot both in Alton IL and in Los Angeles,CA, she was also the Night Manager at Whole Foods in Los Angeles before God called her home. Rhonda con- tributed her work ethics to her mother and father. Following in her big brothers Albert Jr. and Marcus’s footsteps, she also shared a love for sports, especially basketball. She was an avid sports fan who loved and enjoyed watching all sports. Her favorite team was the Green Bay Packers. WIN or LOSE Rhonda loved her Packers and would DEFEND them. We will never forget her look of dis- appointment when she found out SHE was the only person in the family who liked THE PACKERS or the look of disappointment when she realized her only son Brandon wasn’t a Packers fan. Rhonda had an extraordinary ability at a very young age to draw realistic depictions of people, animals and objects. She began drawing cartoons at an early age and refining and focusing her artistic passion into graphic design. Rhonda had a passion for the arts in all forms, including music, theater and dancing. She loved listening to Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Reggae, Soft Rock and Old School Hip Hop. Rhonda loved singing Jill Scott, Yolanda Adams and Erykha Badu songs and often referred to herself as catching Neo- Soul-itis, Badu-itis and suffered from Badu-ism. She loved going to concerts, plays, comedy shows and movies. Music was Rhonda’s therapy during her battle with cancer. She would bop her head, tap her finger and smile when she heard her favorite songs. Rhonda’s unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father is the founda- tion upon which she built her life. She loved to entertain, congre- gate, celebrate, and support others. She beat to the sound of her own drum, while cherishing and uplifting others to do the same. Rhonda’s free spirit was always up for new adventures, fun times and good food. She chose simple over flashy and was deeply senti- mental. With a passionate spirit, a determined grit and a smile, she will be remembered as a brave warrior who embodied courage. Rhonda was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, and she incorporated that into her motherhood. She was authentically and wholeheart- edly there for those in her life. Rhonda’s pride and joy were her son and grandchildren. She loved her family and friends dearly. She was a loving and doting mom and grandmother. Rhonda was a stranger to no one and found great purpose in sharing the suc- cesses, joys, and challenges of those around her. Rhonda was very grounded in her faith. She loved her church Harvest Christian Fellowship, Alton IL and Faith Central Bible Church, Los Angels CA. Rhonda was active in the audio/ visu- al ministry and assisted with creating graphic designs for church programs.Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On October 19, 2022, Rhonda Renee (Rhoo) Patterson peacefully passed away at the age of 54 after a strong fearless battle with cancer. Rhonda was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, Father Albert Patterson Senior, Mother Mary (Da- vis) Patterson, an uncle and cousins. She will be lovingly remem- bered by her son Brandon Patterson, grandchildren Brandon Patterson, Majhala Patterson, Loyalty Patterson and Nevaeh Pat- terson. Brother Albert Patterson Jr (Rochelle) San Antonio TX, Marcus Patterson ( Vanessa) Mary Ester Florida; Uncles, Aunts, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and close friends. Always independent, strong, active, resourceful and beloved moth- er, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. Rhon- da’s infectious smile, beautiful heart, and laughter lit up our souls. We will miss Rhonda’s ability to laugh at herself and the deep hearty laughter that came with it. We will miss her habit of laugh- ing with and at her family and friends.
