Mr. Roger Smith Sr.

Minister Roger Duane Smith, Sr. was born July 24, 1962, in Alton, Illinois to the parents of Roger A. Price and Catherine (Smith) Casey, the first oldest son of twelve children. He attended church and accepted Christ at an early age, he honored God through his life and the life of his family. And through the service of helping others. He met and married the love of his life Alicia Horton on April 1, 1985, and to this union three beautiful children were born; Renee, Riana and Roger Jr. They both remained steadfast in their faith and demonstrated their love for Christ and each other over 36 years. Starting their life in Richmond, CA Roger began working as a Service Technician for the Pest Control Industry for several years. In 1996 their family relocated to back to Alton and he went work for Schnuck Warehouse as an Equipment Specialist. Shorty after be also began working for TWA as a Ramp Agent until landing a job with Ford Motor Company in 2000 at Hazelwood, MO. And in 2003 he transferred to Ford's Chicago Plant outside of Merrillville, IN until 2008. Roger would go back to school and earn two degrees as an Electrician and a Substation Technician and later obtaining employment with IBEW in 2016. In 2018 they relocated to Clarksville, TN to be closer to their children, grandchildren and their mothers. On February 22, 2023 Roger transitioned to his Heavenly home, where we're sure he's carrying on several conversations. He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents Charlie and Pearline Jones, Paternal Grandparents Oscar and Elvira Price, Father Roger A. Price and baby brother Milo Ware. He leaves to cherish his loving wife Alicia, daughters Renee (Brandon) Bowie of Atlanta GA, Riana (David) Bowling of Clarksville, TN and son Roger Smith Jr. of San Antonio TX. Eight Grandchildren David Jr, Legaci, Legend, Dawson, Laiyanna, Aaliyah, Kaliyah and Samia. His Beloved Mother Catherine Casey of Alton, IL. Sisters Debbie Gray of Peoria, IL, Natalie Holliday, Kimerly Robinson all of Alton, IL, Jacqueline Stiff-Moore of Jacksonville, IL, Cathy Smith of Berkeley MO, accepted Robinson of Knoxville, TN born: Carlos of Rock Hill, SC and Lynette Perry of California. Brothers Ernie Smith, Joseph and Gregory Robinson all of Alton, IL and Charlie (Kendra) Robinson of Florissant, MO. Author and Roger Price of Alton, IL. Aunts Cynthia and Shirlene Jones both of Alton, IL. Uncles Kenneth and Timothy Jones of Alton, IL and Jeffrey (Elaine) Jones of Rodeo, CA and Robert Jones of San Francisco, CA. goddaughters TaNesia Jones of Alton, IL, Leticia Harris and Murdies Williams of Richmond, CA. His favorite mother-In-law Ernest Mae Jolliff of Godfrey, IL. Special cousin-in-law Robert Thomas Jr. of Pointe Richmond, CA and best friend Rex Whitehead of St. Louis, MO. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
