Mr. Bryan K. Newsome

Bryan K Newsome was born in St. Louis Missouri on April 4th 1962 to the late Ruth Marie (nèe Pettie) and John Samuel Newsome. Bryan is preceded in death by his brother, Buck Newsome; sisters, Helen Jacks, Rita Jackson and sister-in-law, Rosemarie Newsome. Bryan “Cat” Newsome as he was called was loved and respected by everyone he associated with. He came into this world ready to make a name for himself. He was born with a hole in his heart and was one of the first black babies in the area to receive an operation to close the hole. Just the story behind why he was termed a blue baby when he was born. You’d never know Bryan faced such adversity in his early years as he made sure to put that heart to use playing football in his school days and loving his family. Bryan married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Sukrena New- some on April 26th, 1984. To this union was born three amazing children Brandi, Brittany and Samuel. This coveted union stood the true test of time, loving each other through sickness & health and unto death. Bryan was a hardworking man, who loved his family, his community and being outdoors. He was employed at Empire Comfort Systems Inc for over 35years. He worked every machine in the plant and he took great pride in that. In his later years he stepped off the line to work the forklift, truck transfer and train “the young guys” as he called them. During that time Bryan also served on the Madison City Fire Department for 30 years. He enjoyed driving the truck and helping to hang decorations during holidays. He was looking forward to his retirement because in his words he was getting too old for the younger crowd. However, he knew he needed to stick around just a little bit longer so these” young cats” got everything they needed from him so they would be good fire fighters. Bryan could live outdoors if you let him. You would find him cutting his yard 3 times a week and the neighbor’s yards too if they didn’t move fast enough to make the block look good. He would plant a garden and flowers with his grandkids and make sure there was plenty to give away to anyone who asked. His most peaceful place was being right there at the lake,where he would fish for hours with his nephews and just shoot the breeze talking about any and everything. Bryan K Newsome departed from this life with peace Monday May 23rd in the presence of God. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sukrena Newsome; daughters, Brandi (Dennis) Young Jr of Florissant, MO and Brittany (Aaron) Newsome of Mad- ison IL; son, Samuel Newsome of Madison IL; two brothers, James (Henri- etta) Newsome of Madison IL and Elroy Newsome, of Columbia MO; four sisters, Mayme (William) Cass of Madison IL, Evelyn (Orlandius) Williams and Willie Allen both of Granite City IL and Joann Campbell of Baltimore MD; grandchildren, Brooklynn Young, Dallas Young and Derrick Young and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
