Mr. Roadecker "Roe" Watts

Roadecker Dean Watts, Jr. (Roe) was born November 27, 1955, Roe is the third child born to the late Roadecker and Shirley Watts, Sr. and their first born son. Roe attended Alton Public school district and graduated in class 1973 from Alton Senior High. Shortly thereafter he served in the United States Marine Corps and was Honorably Discharged. Roe realized he wanted to embark on a new career path and was hired at Dillards department store. He was driven to pursue Dillards alteration program where he received a certificate for completing a fitting/marking course. This marked the beginning of love and passion for fashion, not only for him, but for anyone who asked. His life journey took a turn to pursue a basic nursing training program, whereby he received a certificate in 1992 at Lewis & Clark Community College. Roe was later employed at JCPenney for 20 years, retiring in November 2023. Roe loved and enjoyed everyday and was a committed employee at JCPenney where he learned his sense of style. His commitment to please every customer was always a top priority. He deeply loved people, his family, friends, and always dressed to impress. Beyond his kindness and compassion, Roe was a man of great character. He faced life's challenges with grace and resilience, never losing sight of his values or his sense of humor. He taught us the importance of perseverance, staying true to ourselves in the face of adversity, and cherishing the moments we have with those we hold dear. As we bid farewell to Roe, we find solace in the memories we shared, in the lessons he imparted, and in the love he gave so freely. Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. His spirit will live on in our hearts forever, a guiding light in times of darkness, a reminder of the beauty and joy that he brought into our lives. He was preceded in death by his father Roadecker Watts Sr., mother Shirley Watts, son Edrow Perkins and sister Angela Watts. Roe’s strong, loving and kind spirit now leaves to cherish his memories by Sandra K. His uncle Earl Watts of Godfrey, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that was truly his second family. Roe was a man of unwavering integrity, a beacon of strength and wisdom in our lives. His presence brought joy and laughter to every gathering, his infectious smile lighting up the room and warming our hearts. He was a pillar of support, always there to offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to those in need. His kindness knew no bounds, and his generosity touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roe, you were a source of strength, a beacon of love, and a shining example of what it means to live a life filled with purpose and compassion. Your memory will be cherished, your legacy will endure, and your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing you. Rest in peace, dear uncle, knowing that you were loved and respected by all who crossed your path. Until we meet again, may your soul find peace in the arms of eternity.
